Great to read the updates.

Wish we could have been there for the final farewells but we had some good phone conversations with Mom and Dad as they journeied to the MTC and after they got to the MTC last night. I agree with Rebecca that the blessings are already flowing from Grandma and Grandpa being missionaries. Thanks to Rebecca, that will be the topic of our Family Home Evening discussion today.

Devynne's birthday was yesterday...the big !#...or I mean 13...
In sacrament meeting they announced an upcoming stake dance in Rangley Colorado which is about 120 miles away. Our stake is like the St. Johns Stake was when Dad was first called...Ginormous! Anyway when the announcement was made I had that breathless, "I have a teenage daughter" feeling but then I realized the moment later that we have another year before the dances. Really though, Devynne will be a great teenager. She's got lots of great friends and she keeps our family on the straight and narrow. We're blessed to have her.

Our bishop just returned from a fishing trip to Alaska so he and his family along with several other families from the ward came over to our house last night to grill his catch of salmon and link-cod and celebrate Devynne's big day. It was a feast for the ages. We even used a sparkler that we bought with Nathan and Shauna on her birthday cake. By the way, you haven't had a 4th of July until you've had a 4th of July with Nathan, Shauna, Joshua, Bethany, and Hannah. They know how to throw a patriotic party!!!

Lately right after work, I've been taking the kids fishing in the Colorado River just below our house and having a great time. The trout in the river are great fighters so it's pretty exciting. I'm even being converted to catch and release. Shadrach was board none the less and spent the whole time swimming in the river and talking to the pretty girls floating down the river in rafts.

Like the old days, we're planning some trips to go get wood to prepare for winter. My little girls are already asking for fires to be built but we're not that cool yet. Maybe in a few months.
