Another p-day trip

We had to go to Lisboa again on Wednesday. This time, to pay the doctor bill. Dad tried to give them a credit card number over the phone, but they wouldn't accept it, so we had to drive down and pay in person. That was ok, though, because it gave us an excuse to go to beautiful Lisboa again. There is so much to see there. This time we took the Elders and went to the palace at Sintra, a small village adjacent to Lisboa. It is magnificent! They wouldn't let us take pictures inside the palace, though, so we bought postcards, which I photographed, and am sending. They don't even begin to accurately portray how beautiful it was. We also visited the hilltop where Portugal was dedicated for missionary work, but I will send those photos on Sunday. Today is just for Sintra.

This picture shows the "black forest" that we drove through to get to the palace. We drove for miles and miles through dense forest, then all of a sudden, we saw the amazing palace up on the hill.

This is the fairy-tale palace at Sintra. It looks like it belongs in Disneyland!

I was surprised at how small the family dining room was. But the ceilings were magnificent...in all the rooms.

This picture shows about half of the queen's bedroom. There were no postcards of the king's quarters...even more elegant and huge.

The queen's bathroom was so elegant. This picture hardly does it justice. See the covered toilet in the middle of the room?

This is the ballroom. There is so much furniture in it that I don't know how they could possibly have a ball in it.

This is a picture of the kitchen. Actually it is a picture of one-fourth of the kitchen. It was huge and so beautiful, with ovens and bread-hearths and copper pots everywhere.
