This is Dad, looking at the beach at a little village near Lourinha. It is starting to get warm enough for people to flock to the beaches, so we will have to do Marissa's baptism in the font in the chapel in Santarem.
The Queen. Queen Leonor. She is the Rainha that Caldas (thermal waters) da Rainha is named for. I didn't know if we had ever sent you her picture. She and Dad became great friends at the very first of our mission because she is the landmark he used to find his way around.

Dear Grandma and Grandpa, I love the pictures. Also I was just wandering what the people call you there. The reason I'm asking this is because my dad calls them the Mormons or Mormon Guys. I was just wandering. Also it looks like you guys are having a great time in Portugal Teaching.
Wow how could you ever want to leave there? The ocean is something I can stare at for a long time, and never get enough. So soak it up. And keep the pictures coming!! by the way it's pooring rain here. all night and continued it's 10:25a.m. now. The kids were so excited Isabel and Harrison were still asleep so we woke them up to play in the rain. Isabel got right up and looked out the window and Harrison just rolled over and went back to sleep. I guess he's seen enough of the rain.

Mormons in Portugal are also called Mormons. But they call the missionaries "Elders." In fact, they think it is their name. We had an investigator who had a lot of questions about the church, and the first one was "Why do all the men in your church have the same first name?"
I was impressed that you were friends with a queen! Until I realized she's stone cold. ha ha...
