Parker's First Football Game

Parker has asked us so many times to play football but we've always said no because his neurosurgeon in Arizona said absolutely not. His neurosurgeon in Denver said the benefit of football far outweighs the risks (fitness, social, etc.) that if Parker can play and he wants to then he absolutely should. Parker is number 31.

Parker does pretty well with this being his first game and most all others having played for a number of years in junior leagues. He's having a great time.

Sorry these are so short but this one shows a good picture of parker.

That's really cool Parker. You look great out there. Your stance looks really good. Remember to stay low, get under your opponents pads and drive him to his back with your legs. I don't think there is a better sport than football. I still get "something in my eye" everytime I hear Denzel Washington talk about the football field in the movie, Remember The Titans.

I'll never forget these two bits of wisdom I learned from some of my coaches;

1) "Respect everyone, fear nobody"

2) (My favorite) "Blood makes the grass grow!"

Best of luck to you! I'm jealous you may get to play football in the snow.

Parker, take Tony's advice as coming from an expert. He is our family's football player. Although your dad played one year, Tony played all through high school, so he knows what he is talking about. Grandpa's and my experience with football is just sitting in the stands yelling our heads off for our favorite teams. Maybe when we get home we can come and yell our heads off for you. Just be careful, for our sakes, ok? We love you and are very proud of you for trying something that is so hard.

Although Tony knows all there is to know about the game take into consideration that his nick name from Allison was "Tony owie" so lets not let you be "Parker owie" deal? That is so awesome Parker you are such a stud!

Mom & Dad said...

Oh, that's right!!! I had forgotten that nickname. She started it when she saw Tony laid out on the football field and her mother or Rachel told her Tony had an "owie." So, Parker, Mary's right. Be careful.

Thank you everyone for your comments. Football is hard but I'm having a lot of fun. My dad says what that one movie says, "wounds heal and chicks dig scars." I hope Camille does well. I know how she feels.

Parker

By the way we might get snow this Saturday.
