We missed everyone during Christmas. Thanks for your pictures, Daniel. You are right about snow in St. Johns. It seems like we always left it in Show Low.
Bethany got a new phone, so most of the pictures of her are with that. She dropped her last one in the toilet, so she was feeling lost without being connected.
Here I am grilling the pork chops on Christmas morning (and the result below). Everyone else (but Daniel, it looks like) seems to do this on another day besides Christmas. It has always been my tradition since doing it at Grandmother's house to do it Christmas morning. Of course, Grandmother did not have a grill and snow to deal with.
Josh and I installed a new stereo, and iPod controller in his car. He didn't think the old man had it in him, but we got it to work first time.
It did not snow on Christmas, but we had a lot left over. It did get pretty frosty on everything, so it looked cold and wintery. The first picture is of the front yard, and the next is from the back deck.

We do pork chops on Christmas morning too. We don't grill though -- we broil. We'll let you know if we get some time to get to Colorado for skiing. Thanks for the picts.

Ok. Here's the deal. We have three groups: the big kids, the little kids and the babies. The big kids grew up having pork chops at Grandmother's on Christmas morning. The little kids did too but were too young to incorporate that memory. The little kids and the babies had pork chops Christmas Eve because that is when everyone could get together at our house and we wanted to do the pork chop thing together. So, the little kids and the babies (and big kid Rebecca because she has been in Safford with us on Christmas...actually I don't know when she does it)have the Christmas Eve pork chop tradition. Both are good. One is Grandmother's, one is Mom's. The important thing isn't when you have pork chops, it is that you have pork chops at all! Hah! I bet you thought I was going to say that the important thing is that you are together:)
Not to bring 4th of July into Christmas but the picture of their front yard shows the little wall in front of the bench. That's where we set up the mother of all fireworks shows. I'm just saying, you need to plan to be there. It's a great time. Also, we would love to have you guys come skiing. If Joel and Fam can't make it, still plan on making a trip. I'm going again in the morning and taking any of the kids who want to go.
Final note: Josh, if only you knew the number of stereos your old man has removed and installed in various vehicles you would be amazed. I remember he installed a stereo in The Beast with an equalizer and it sounded awesome until I tried to improve it and failed.
We also do pork chops! My dad always tells us thats what he had. The missionaries that came over thought it was pretty cool too!

hmm I just told Tony we were supposed to have pork chops... He said "tell them we've had ribs and bacon and sausage." That should count for something. I'll have to start the tradition next year. Although the parents will be back so we'll just do it with them.
I remember going to Grandmothers to have pork chop breakfast I remember it being rather strange that we had pork chops in the morning but hey rice in the morning was pretty strange too.
I have to tell you that Thomas was
very concerned that we have pork chops and eggs, and we did. It is neat to hear how many of you carry on this tradtion!
Rachel, I thought it was odd to eat rice for breakfast as well, but Thomas thought it was out of this world that we grew-up having grits for breakfast. I guess we all really do come from different backgrounds... the fun part is blending all of them together!
Fun to see your family on Christmas morning. You all look wonderful and Nathan, those pork chops look yum.
