Late last week, a horse ranch in our area decided they were going to give away their horses. The owner passed away and his wife couldn't care for all the horses. They were all registered paint horses with papers and we figured if ever we were going to give this a try then free to start was a pretty good deal. All we had to do really was add electric fence tape to our pasture to keep the horses in. I can tell you so far, we've all been shocked by not paying attention, more than the horses ever will. Anyway, a few pictures...and a few happy kids...
The picture below is of the horses in our chicken pen. We had to keep them locked in the pen with the higher fences while we put up the electric tape. It actually worked out real well. We also have a friend here who raised horses her whole life and she had an older horse trailer she wasn't using anymore that she gave to us so we're off to a good start. As we were driving the horses home from the ranch, all I could think about was how much firewood that trailer could hold.

Wow! Thank you for blogging. You are going to love having horses...at least your kids will...I think. I had a horse when I was a kid and I loved riding him. Of course, the care and feeding was someone else's responsibility, so maybe that's why I loved having a horse! I know Dad had a horse too, and I think until he fell off the horse when he was little, he liked riding him too. good luck. Enjoy them.

Man, how in the heck do you guys get so lucky!!! This new adventure is so very cool. We at the Evans house are "green with jealous rage" So will the kids still take horse lessons, at the other ranch, and do you have names for them yet. We are so excited for our Colorado cousins. I think your whole life is an adventure! Love ya all
