       ~MAY~RESTORATION OF THE PRIESTHOOD~
When Christ established His church on the earth during His lifetime, He bestowed the Priesthood upon His Apostles and gave them authority to perform miracles, ordinances and other holy works in His name.  As, one by one, the Apostles died, and the church became more political and politically correct for that era, the authority to use the Priesthood of God was withdrawn by Heavenly Father.  The world was without that authority until in May, 1829, it was restored to Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery by John the Baptist.  He came as an answer to "mighty prayer."  While translating the Book of Mormon, Joseph came across a reference to baptism.  He and Oliver, who was his scribe at the time, wanted to know the Lord's will concerning baptism, so they joined in supplication, asking for direction.  In answer, John the Baptist came and bestowed the Aaronic Priesthood to them both and told them that it gave them the authority to baptize in the name of Jesus Christ.
Then a little bit later, we don't know exactly when, but possibly also in May, Peter, James and John conferred the Melchizedek Priesthood on Joseph and Oliver.  With that blessing came the authority to perform higher ordinances, including the keys of apostleship.  Then when the Kirtland  Temple was dedicated,  the Savior Himself, Moses, Elijah and Elias appeared, bestowing the keys and powers from their dispensations to this one.  It is this priesthood that makes possible the link between this life and eternity.  President David O. McKay said, "If at this moment each one of you were asked to state in one sentence...the most distinguishing feature of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, what would be your answer?"  He replied "My answer would be...divine authority by direct revelation."  In other words, the holy priesthood.  President Gordon B. Hinkley said, "The Priesthood is the only power on earth that reaches beyond the veil of death...Without it there could be a church in name only, lacking authority to administer the things of God."
I want to tell you an interesting story that really doesn't have much to do with the restoration of the Priesthood, but is linked in my mind.  When Dad was president of the St. Johns Stake, we always had a stake fathers-and-sons campout to celebrate the restoration of the Priesthood.  At one of these campouts, I was asked to write a skit...more of a pageant...commemorating the restoration of the Priesthood.  As part of that play, I wanted to use a song that I had heard called  In the Hollow of Thy Hand by Janice Kapp Perry.  I had purchased the sheet music but I wanted several characters to sing it so I wanted to make copies.  I called the number on the bottom of the music, to ask permission to copy it, thinking to get a business office, but instead Sister Perry, herself, answered the phone in her kitchen.  She gladly gave me permission to copy the music.  I wrote to thank her, and she wrote back.  We struck up a friendly correspondence and I mentioned that we had a son getting ready to leave on a mission to Korea.  She said she had a son, also serving in Korea, and had written a song for his farewell.  She said she was sending it to me and apologized because it was still in her handwriting and not nicely published.  Oh my goodness!  I was so touched, honored and, of course we sang it at Nathan's farewell.  It was called The Army of Helaman.  I put the music away in a folder in a drawer, but ever since we moved to Safford I haven't been able to find it, though I have looked several times.  If, after we die, someone goes through our mountains of stuff and finds that music, you will know how valuable it is and save it or frame it.

~FIRST ENDOWMENTS IN A TEMPLE-NAUVOO~
May is also the month that the first endowments were performed in a temple...the Nauvoo Temple.  Before that, they were performed in the upstairs rooms of Joseph Smith's store/home.  We visited Nauvoo as a family in 1985, and although Thomas and Mary don't remember that visit, they have been there since then.
In 1985, the Nauvoo Temple was just a memory, having been burned as the Saints were driven out, but there was a replica.  And of course, it has since been rebuilt, as close to exactly the same as possible.  I have included some pictures of our 1985 trip and a few others as well.  I hope they will bring back some happy memories.
With the Crosbys from Eagar who were missionaries there in 1985
Our May birthdays are so special and in the same way that the Church couldn't function without the Priesthood, our family definitely couldn't function without these important members.
Ellie turned 15 on the 5th
Harrison turned 20 on the 6th
Isabel's birthday was the 9th.
Luke turned 17 on the 10th
Thomas's birthday was the 19th
Precious little Rosetta Fae Evans made her appearance to Dallin and Sara on May 20th, in Wheeling, West Virginia.  She was 7 pounds 11 ounces of beautiful little girl.
Palmer's birthday was the 23rd
Analynn turned 16 on the 24th
Thomas and Jenn celebrated their 17th anniversary on the 31st
~OUR MAY~
I feel like a broken record having to mention Covid-19 for yet another month.  It has just become a way of life for us and for the rest of the world as well.  We have so much to be thankful for, though.  We have nice homes in which to be quarantined, a beautiful world to still enjoy, like mountains and streams and even swimming pools.   I think of people all over the world who are either confined in less than favorable circumstances or have no place at all to be confined.  People who live on the streets, people who are crowded into small spaces, people far away from medical help.
We are all being careful, if not as careful as before, but still very aware of the danger of contagion.
Monk, my favorite, would never have taken any chances of being exposed, but Tony Shalhoub, who plays Monk got Covid-19!  He and his wife had a pretty bad case of it, though I find I compare everyone's case with Joel's and I don't believe theirs was nearly as bad.  It doesn't say, but I don't think they were hospitalized in ICU.  I wonder how Tom Hanks and his wife are, and Prince Charles. Also we just heard that Stan Ellsworth, who hosts American Ride on the BYU channel, one of our favorite shows, has Covid now and is on a ventilator in ICU.  It's a scary disease.  One to be avoided at all costs.
Although some places have relaxed restrictions, Dad and I are still being quarantined...for our protection of course.  However, because it is getting hot and because the pool is a safe place, we are at least able to visit with people who come to swim.  We sit on the porch while they are in the pool area, but we enjoy it just the same.
We are faithful social distancers, except, of course, when the baby comes to swim.  I just couldn't help myself.
The one consistent thing about this whole coronavirus thing is our worry about Joel.  He is getting better, that is true, and we are so thankful for that blessing, but he is still struggling.  He has a massive bedsore that is taking such a long time to heal.  He still can only rest on his stomach or side, or stand up and walk.  He can't sit, even on an inflatable donut cushion.  He is getting really frustrated with always having to be on his stomach, but at the same time, very grateful to be alive.  Stephanie, always by his side, does everything she can to help him and to keep him from being so bored.  It's an impossible job, though.   Who wouldn't be bored out of his mind in that situation?  It's been weeks and still has weeks to go.  He enjoys calls from his family.  Here is a screenshot of a FaceTime from Rebecca.  Rachel says he looks like a biker dude. :-]
May's weather has been gorgeous, maybe as a compensation for all the inconveniences.  Dad and I enjoy just sitting on the porch and enjoying the flowers and the breeze.
The Jeremy and Erika family are the calendar family for May.
We had a huge fire in the Gila River bed early in May. I don't know what started it, but it got pretty big.
On Sunday, the 3rd, we FaceTimed Daniel's family for church.  We did it on Dad's phone, so I didn't get a good screen shot.  But we enjoyed it very much.  Everyone participated and shared their thoughts.  Connie even read the opening to my April blog about the organization of the Church.  It made me feel important.  Also, we get so much joy out of seeing each of you prepare, bless and partake of the Sacrament in your homes.  I think we've all enjoyed home church so much that it might be hard to go back to congregation church.
Joshua was visiting his parents that week, so they FaceTimed us and we got to talk to him.  It was on my phone this time, so I screenshot it. :-)  He looked and sounded really good and we loved talking to him.
Mothers' Day was a very special day for me.  Dad gave me this beautiful sculpture that I really like, but the best gift was when he said, "I got this because it reminded me of you." What could be better than that?
I also received a video screen frame from all of the kids.  I have enjoyed it so much.  Some of you have sent pictures for it and I have sent others from my iPhoto.  Sometimes I just sit and watch it cycle pictures of my beautiful family over and over.
One of the pictures Devynne sent (actually two) was so cute that I have to put them on here.  Can you tell who these munchkins are?
These are flowers that  Dad gave me for Mothers' Day.  The same bouquet, just opposite sides.
I had a visit from each of the Gila Valley kids and phone calls from the rest.  It was a day of love and gratitude for my wonderful family.  A mother is only as good as her kids, and mine are exceptional.  You all make us look good as parents.  Thank you.
Talking to one of the kids
One day when the kids came over to swim, we smelled something rotten.  We could't locate the source, so we asked Jenn to bring her dogs over to see if they could find anything.  They never could. It has eventually gone away, thank goodness.  Maybe it was on the other side of the wall.  Our neighbor's dogs could have killed something and left it to rot.  Who knows?
Beautiful girls enjoying the sunshine.
When Mary and Tyson brought Carson over to mow the lawns, they got busy and trimmed my trees.  I was so glad, so I wanted to take their picture to show here.
Mary also gave Dad a haircut.  Looking good!
And Alex told me a riddle about a vampire and a tiger.  It was so cute that we made him tell it to Joel.   He was nervous to tell Uncle Joel, the guy he and his family have been praying for, but Mary bribed him with legos.  Do you remember when Joel had a bunch of funny riddles?
Dad and I have enjoyed taking short drives just to get out of the house once in a while.  On one drive, we went past our old house on Bonita Street, across from the Brinkley's.  The Brinkleys have decorated their yard.  It was so much fun just to stop and look at everything.
Another day we took a drive to Duncan and made the loop through Virden, New Mexico.  I think Virden is a sweet little secret place that no one knows about.  Maybe during Armageddon, we'll escape to Virden :-}  A quiet street in Virden; the chapels in Duncan and Virden
One day, when Carson was getting ready to let his chicks out of their luxury coop, Dad went over to watch.  Ethan got the biggest kick out of picking up chickens and putting them down at Dad's feet.
We were glad to hear that The Gila Valley Temple is one of the temples being cautiously opened for live sealings.  Maybe it won't be too long before we can go back.  And they've also announced a cautious return to shortened Sunday meetings.  Dad says we're not going yet.
All of you who went to EAC remember, I'm sure, Crae Wilson, head of the drama department.  He passed away in May from a massive stroke.  Here he is, as Reb Tevya from Fiddler on the Roof, an EAC production.
On Sunday, the 17th, we FaceTimed Joel and were able to be there (virtually) for the ordination of Crew to the Melchizedek Priesthood, and the blessing of Lucy Worth.  We were both so touched to see their family members encircle Crew, and then Lucy and give them blessings.  Joel's blessing to Crew was so thoughtful and prophetic.  I hope Crew was listening and that the words are tattooed on his brain and that he'll remember them throughout his life, especially when he is making choices.  And Stetson's blessing to Lucy, (even though she cried through the whole thing) was so sweet and loving, the deepest feelings of a father's heart for his beloved daughter.  We felt so blessed for being able to be a part of it all.
Then on the 20th, we got word that Dallin and Sara's baby girl had arrived, healthy and beautiful.  I have a love/hate relationship with FaceTime.  (I love it when it brings good news. I hate it when I look horribly scary!)
Her name is Rosetta Fae.  Devynne's Rosie is Rosena Marie.  So even though they're both called Rosie, their names are actually different.  I guess I'll have to call them Rosena and Rosetta.  They look like twins, don't they, in their "Rosie" blankets?
Rosetta
Rosena
To make Grandma feel good, they posed Rosetta in the things I made for her.  It worked :-)
It was fun to have a Sunday visit once again.  We haven't been having them lately because of Covid.  But we sat outside and socially distanced.  I don't think you can tell in these pictures, but we are 6 feet away from everyone.
Hooray!! DeWitt came by to tell us that he got word that he has been accepted to Texas Tech Medical School in El Paso! We are so excited for him.  It is more highly rated than even UofA, which has a very high rating, and yet is less expensive.  It's students have a higher average MCAT score and a higher GPA than UofA too, so DeWitt will fit right in.  It will be a long road, but we'll be very glad to have an MD in the family again.
*BIGGS FAMILY GRADUATES*
Graduations have been happening all over the country, in spite of social distancing.  They mostly have been virtual graduations with each individual student going in, by him/herself, to receive his/her diploma and having a picture taken.  We had 4 high school graduates, 4 8th grade graduates, a dental school graduate, and a PhD in immunology.
*Both Crew and Marlie graduated from Highland High School.
*Shannyn graduated from Coal Ridge High School, and Jonathan from Glenwood Springs
*Brynlie, Camille and Thomas graduated from Safford Middle School, and Emma graduated from Two River Community School.
*Palmer with a DDS from Midwestern Dental School in Glendale, Brock with a PHD from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.
*NEWS FROM AROUND THE FAMILY*
~NATHAN AND SHAUNA~
Since Bethany and Palmer have finished Dental school, they have moved back to Omaha where they are staying with his parents until they find a home of their own.
And they are close enough to Nathan and Shauna that they can visit often.
In fact, they got to have a Jovie-sleepover to prepare her for a trip her parents are going to be taking soon, for which she will be staying with her Biggs grandparents.  She felt right at home, safe and loved.
Joshua was home for a week during May and took some pictures of his beloved Omaha, and also some from Indianapolis.

Nathan and Shauna have some nesting cardinals at their house.
Such beautiful girls.
Palmer had a video graduation from Midwestern Dental School.  He won so many awards! He was the top graduate of his class.  His family, all of us, are so proud of him.
Congratulations, Palmer :-)
Palmer is planning to go into practice with his dad as soon as the licensing office opens up and he can get his license.  It has been closed due to Covid.
~JOEL AND STEPHANIE~
The boys went to Pine to spend a few days away from the house.
Stetson, Lindsay and the girls went too.  Here is Junie in Pine.
Mothers' Day.
Stetson showing off for a very appreciative audience.  In case you can't tell from this screenshot, he's catching cereal or an olive or candy in his mouth.  He had to try many times before he caught it, making Junie laugh so hard the whole time.
Crew and Marlie graduated from Highland High School this year.
This was a little crazy.  I watched a youtube video of their graduation and didn't realize that the woman standing at the podium was just a hologram! Actually, Nathan says it isn't a hologram.  It's a video overlay :-]  They walked on to an empty stage, picked up their diploma from the table, turned their tassel and walked off.
Crew and Luke were at Bridger's house one evening for Penny Up and food.  Esther FaceTimed Joel and Rachel to chastise them for not teaching their kids how to play Penny Up.
Mary and Tyson sent them some Philly Cheese Steaks from a favorite restaurant in Philadelphia that Joel remembers from his mission.  Esther and Shad have been taking Sunday dinner to them every Sunday since Joel has been in the hospital.  They just want to do something to help, and Joel and his family have really appreciated it and the love that goes with it.
We FaceTimed them on Sunday, the 17th, when they ordained Crew to the Melchizedek Priesthood and blessed Lucy Worth.  I couldn't resist taking a picture of Docker.  I so enjoy seeing him home again and am so thankful that he didn't get very sick with Covid.
Beautiful Lucy Grandpa (Worth)
Proud parents/grandparents
Rachel and Esther and their families went over to Joel and Stephanie's to swim in their gorgeous new pool.  Joel stood around as long as he could, then he had to lie down on his side on the porch sofa.
~DANIEL AND CONNIE~
Some of the Biggs kids hiked up Doc Holiday Trail with friends...cousins?
Shannyn's graduation announcement
Jonathan's graduation announcement
Their two graduates
I watched the graduation video on Youtube.  It was a little more real than Highland High School's.  Coal Ridge High School is a small school and probably couldn't afford a hologram.  Thank goodness.  The graduates went in one at a time, got their diplomas and had their picture taken.
A parade of graduates; and a special Amazing Connie Cake to honor their own Shannyn.
These signs on their front porch are courtesy of the Young Women, the high schools and their parents.
Jonathan was also a senior; the students at their community school had a parade honoring the teachers.  They made signs and put them on their cars; Emma's is under her; the other kids', Syrina's, Raymond's and Alonzo's, are in the last picture.
Emma's 8th grade graduation was held outside at their school and what started out to be a nice day for an outside graduation turned into a rainy one.  The students came up one by one to receive their certificates and the parents watched from their cars.  Then at home, Emma was honored just as Shannyn had been.
Analynn turned 16 on the 24th.  Her "Amazing Connie Cake" was a bunch of amazing cupcakes with a darling birthday centerpiece.
Porter and Aila made cookies and sold them, along with a cup of milk, for 25cents.  Connie said it was great because the kids all wanted jobs to do so they could earn quarters for cookies!
~REBECCA AND SCOTT~
One early early morning, Dallin and Sara were awakened by a fire right outside their apartment.  They had to evacuate, and it was cold, but they were thankful to be ok.  The picture below is from their deck.  It never reached their home, though, so they were eventually able to go back.
Scott had to get serious with some bats that had taken up residence in their pool house.
Dallin, Sara and Parley having a pre-baby outing
Harvey and Lucy, best friends.
So cute! Hippo sleepover and he let his hippo friend use his Grandma blanket.
Polly with her work friends
Lillian and Kelin buying flowers to plant
And fishing in a cold stream; and chasing a porcupine in the snow.
Rebecca and Scott invited their friend, Darius Martindale, to dinner where he could report his mission since he won't be able to give a report in church.
Rebecca and Scott at the airport with DeWitt as they are going to Utah to surprise Lillian; they could see DeWitt loading bags from the airplane window.
They met Lillian at the doctor's office where she works...that fancy building behind them; and then she made some yummy cookies for them.
They went fishing and had a picnic.
Sara and Parley, eagerly awaiting the baby's birth.
Rebecca flew to Pittsburgh, just a short drive from Wheeling West Virginia, and was picked up by Dallin in his new minivan; Sara, all ready to go to the hospital; Parley having breakfast outside.
Rebecca brought the things I made for the baby; Parley is glad to see Grandma Becca and show her around.
Parley slept with her.  Rebecca says he's a snuggler.  When she would roll away, he would come with her.
She's here! She was born on May 20th, and weighed 7 lb, 11 oz.  Her name is Rosetta Fae.  Fae is Grandma Sherry's middle name.
A party at home all ready for her
Parley loves his new baby sister.
So does Grandma Becca
And his dad's a little crazy about her too.  Read Sara's caption.
Rebecca stayed a whole week with them, enjoying the baby and Parley and helping the new parents.  I'm sure they are going to miss her terribly now that she has gone back to Arizona.
They didn't wait very long to introduce Rosetta to the beautiful surroundings in which they live.  I'm just amazed that Sara went...two days after a c-section!
The Ohio River

Sara's family was all there for a few days too.
Parley and Rosetta
Rebecca had a long, tough day, getting back to  Arizona after her week in West Virginia.  Dallin took her to the airport in Pittsburgh at 5:30 a.m. for a 6:00 flight.  But because she has to fly on standby, as a free passenger, she wasn't able to get on that flight even though she even already had her boarding pass.  Luckily, Lillian had double booked her, so she had another flight...at 3:00 p.m.!  She waited all day in the airport and then flew to Philadelphia, then to Phoenix.  She got there late, so we are glad she had someplace to stay and could wait until morning to drive home.
Everyone is so happy for DeWitt to be attending Texas Tech Medical School. Happy and proud.
~JEREMY AND ERIKA~
They put an old fashioned water pump in their yard, just for looks, I think, but it works fine, as Victoria found out.
Shopping, especially at hobby lobby is good therapy for any problem!
They refinished their kitchen table and chairs and recovered them.  How sweet they look in their beautiful kitchen.
Reygan and Ellie on their way to San Diego with the family.
Daynen gets filming jobs whenever they go.  Or maybe they go whenever Daynen gets filming jobs.
Daynen and his friend, working on a movie.
Erika's friend, Sherri Beals Claridge (Rachel's friend too) visited Jeremy and Erika on the last weekend in May and they had a combined family church on Sunday.  It looks like Victoria was the special number :-)
~RACHEL AND TONY~
Steele in his blanket, made with love by his great grandma.  I know they put it on him just to make me feel good, but that's ok.  It works.
Isabel had all four wisdom teeth removed.  She was so loopy and talked and talked just as if she thought she made sense. :-D
Rachel and Esther took their kids to Pine.  They celebrated the May birthdays there.  Poor Isabel couldn't even smile.
They walked over to Joel's house and FaceTimed him.  He told them how to get into his garage and let them borrow one of his golf carts for fun; Also Isabel braided Luke's long hair; and everyone enjoyed the baby.
Even when he woke Esther up early.
Love birds.  Rylie and Brandon are going to be married at the cabin on August 29th.  All of us, close family, are invited.  There will be places for everyone to stay.
Brandon made this desk for the computer stuff in their house.
And Rylie is starting her landscape plan.
This was posted by Brandon on Mothers' Day. It was also Luke's birthday.
Luke's coronavirus version of blowing out the candles on your birthday cake.  He just waved his arm over the flames and blew them out that way. :-]
His birthday was on Mothers' Day, but he still needed extra birthday attention.
Brynlie and Camille graduated from 8th grade, one at a time.
To celebrate Isabel's and Luke's birthdays and the twins' graduation, the family all went to El Charro. I was glad to see masks on the servers.
Luke enjoys taking their dog, Nala, out to the ponds and playing fetch.  He throws the tennis ball into the water, as far as he can and Nala jumps in, retrieves it and swims it back to him.
They introduced Steele to swimming...while it was still pretty cold water.  He did ok, though and seemed to enjoy it.
Brandon and Steele get along great; nothing better than swimming and cold watermelon; they enjoyed using Thomas' huge raft
Luke's hair in the summer breeze.  He reminds me so much of Hayden, not only the long, curly hair, but the handsome face...and they both don't like cheese :-}
This outing to Costco to get ribs for Sunday dinner was Rachel's first mask-wearing excursion.  She was there to help put on Marlie's graduation party.
Mama's definitely let your babies grow up to be cowboys! Logan and Isabel took Steele to a rodeo in which Logan was roping.  The baby felt right at home, even happily took his nap in the pickup.
Rylie's family, and Brandon, all got together to assemble and address their wedding announcements.  Due to Covid, they will just have close family at the wedding, but they wanted to send announcements, not invitations, to others.  I'm sure Steele was a lot of help...entertainment anyway.
~ESTHER AND SHAD~
Birthday singing in Pine; Marlie practiced her beauty school techniques on Rylie and Brandon.  I wish I had been there for that!
Steele entertaining everyone
FaceTiming with Joel when they went to his house in Pine.
Harrison turned 20 in 2020...so did Isabel, Tayte, and Albert.
Marlie was led on a treasure hunt through her house to find a treasure in her decorated bedroom.  It was $20 bills to represent 2020.
Her graduation announcement-front and back
Marlie and Bridger, and Crew and Marlie in front of Joel's house after their virtual graduation.
Her graduation with a hologram...see Joel's section.
Her family is so proud of her.
Their first trip to Costco during social distancing.
Marlie, enjoying a visit with Steele when Isabel and Logan went to Gilbert.
Marlie's wearing a mask while she's highlighting Camille's hair because of the fumes from the dye.
Marlie's graduation party.  I guess these kids are in no way worried about catching Covid from each other.  They're like most teenagers, they think they're invincible.
Harrison practicing the piano.  He keeps his family entertained with his incredible talent.  He was asked to play the organ for a mission conference.  After that, he got officially released from his service mission so that he can go back to his service in Lauren's School for special needs children.  Coronavirus has necessitated a lot of changes for service missionaries who can't serve.  For example, the school where Harrison was serving are not allowing service people into the school at this time, but they are allowing employees.  He hopes to get hired on there and get back to work.
Bridger is already starting football.  Esther says it's 157 degrees down there.  They are making some accommodations for the heat and for Covid, but it's going to be brutal.
~THOMAS AND JENN~
Jenn's mother, Anna, moved into one of DeWitt's apartments this month.  The kids put up a Welcome sign.
She had help moving in  from her sister and kids and grandkids.
The Biggs kids have enjoyed the pool
And Maya is learning how to swim.  Backstroke.
Another time, they brought a huge, inflatable raft that totally filled the pool.  They had so much fun on it, and then they left it for Rachel's family to enjoy.
A Mother's Day visit.
Thomas got Jenn this beautiful Mother's ring for Mother's Day.
Maya's chalk art...she's all ready for Covid!  See the mask and hand sanitizer?
The restrictions on restaurants were lifted, finally, and Thomas welcomed everyone back.  I think he is still doing curbside service and home delivery as well as dine in.
Thomas Wyatt (I'm going to start calling him Trey) graduated from 8th grade, along with Brynlie and Camille, in an individual graduation service.
They have a family of doves under their porch roof.
Jenn's post for Thomas' birthday.
Also for his birthday, they went, with the Finches, to Roosevelt lake to spend the day.
Maya and Henry sold lemonade and cookies one warm May afternoon.  Grandpa went by while I was in the pool and bought some from them.
As assistant stake camp director, Jenn has been busy even though our stake is not having camp in the traditional sense this year.  They have been doing online activities (Rachel even made a craft kit that they could do by following online instructions).  This picture is from a scavenger hunt that they took in their own individual cars, to provide for social distancing.  They had a lot of fun.
They are doing many other online activities for camp...not just for the girls but for boys' camp too.
May 31st was Thomas and Jenn's anniversary.  They celebrated on Saturday...and hopefully, every day of the year :-)
~MARY AND TYSON~
Jared learned to dive
They brought their own inflatable rowboat.  A lot of fun.
A Mother's Day song just for Grandma.  Mary had each child hold a picture of him/herself with Grandma Susan.  I'm sure she also did it for Melody and that Melody was just as touched and tearful as I was.
Mary with her kids on Mothers' Day
They each got her a gift.  Brianna a song; Carson a weed eater, Lindsay a handmade temple craft; Jared a card and toy; Alex paper flower and legos; Ethan paper flower and key chain.
They went out to the desert to take family pictures.
They've been enjoying their chickens.
A desert cookout.
Alex reading a story to Ethan
And Ethan helping his mom store their 4-year supply of oatmeal
Lindsay, Jared, Alex and Ethan visited Maya and Henry's lemonade stand.
Tyson, Brianna, Carson, Lindsay and Jared floating over the Valley with Tyson's client in his hot air balloon.
Watching the manned space launch at the end of May.  They seemed as excited as you all used to be in the 70's to see space ships launched.
On the last Sunday of May, at their home church, Alex was in charge of singing time.  Rejecting all the cute, fun games for picking songs that his siblings had used, he said he wanted to do his own game.  So he had Mary put up numbers with corresponding songs on the backs, and got out all their nerf guns so that everyone had his own gun.  They had to shoot the number they wanted to sing.  Fun! And so like Alex.
Mary looks pretty calm in this selfie on the last day of May.  She was scheduled for gall bladder surgery the next day, June 1st.  I think Tyson looks calm too.
~OUR MISSIONARY~
Albert, still confined, except for limited, social-distanced baptisms, is doing online missionary work.
This is a Bigfoot market near Crescent City; and the beautiful coastline.
~SOMETHING TO SMILE ABOUT~
You can just hear someone yell "Say Cheese, Jovie!"
she looks like a pretty yellow flower among the other yellow blossoms.
This screamed "ESTHER" to me!
Everyone remembers their babies' first experience with cereal. This is Steele's.
Rub dub, Just relaxin' in the tub, thinkin' everything was alright.
This isn't one of our babies, but she has good taste.  This was posted by an El Charro customer.  I loved the caption.

I especially appreciated this quote from Sherry Dew as she has never had the opportunity to bear children, but appreciates the motherhood in all of us anyway.
I absolutely loved these screenshots of Junie.  She's in Pine and has been playing hard.

Victoria has the right idea about enjoying ramen.
They played hide and seek when Rachel and Esther were in Pine.  Brynlie was the winner.  She hid under the sink in the upstairs bathroom.  No one could find her.
Brianna tried Polly's trick of getting in the same picture three times...it worked!  Find her.
And finally, what could be better than a chicken on your head?
~LAST WORDS~
As I was raising babies and in the middle of the muddle of mommyhood, Erma Bombeck was my guru.  She had such a practical, funny perspective that helped me laugh my way through the rough parts.  She had an article in the Arizona Republic every Sunday, and I faithfully read them.  I cut out some of the best ones and even bought her book, Just Wait Til You Have Children of Your Own.  I learned to relax and not worry about things that wouldn't matter in the long run; to enjoy the various and baffling stages my children went through; to realize that I was doing the most important job in the world and that I needed to dedicate all my time, talents, education, and attention to that career.  If you have not already read her quote above, read it.  And don't wait until you are old to wish you could live your life over.  Live it now.
