Proud to be a Mormon
I thouht I would just write really quick and maybe just clear something up. I wasn't going to say that I wasn't Mormon, in fact they already asked me that question and I told them that I was. It is just on the application that it has that question to fill out. If I were to fill it out I would probably leave that blank and put below it, Yes I have been baptized and I have been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for so many years. I would have to go interview with the minister though and I heard that they probably won't hire me for being a Mormon anyway. Thanks for all your input. I am still leaning toward sending it in and seeing how far I can actually get. Probably my biggest fear is I will end up getting the position and I will somehow have to figure out how to play and teach Jesus Loves Me. Etc.

This is interesting to me because I had a dream last night that I went to a different church with a friend of mine. I was not going to investigate their church, just to visit. They were having a fund-raising thing, so I decided to donate. But it seemed like everytime I wanted to try to do something to help them (including making a donation), they were turning me away, and making me feel like I was not welcome. Then I noticed that their fund raising was really some marketing scam, and that their church was not really to try to help people, but to try to get things from them.
Anyway, I am not saying that this church is like that, I have just seen that many times when I try to be open and tolerant of others, that they are not as open and tolerant of me. In my opinion, it is okay to associate with those of another faith, even joining with them in certain activities and programs. I have learned a lot from friends in different churches, especially their perspectives on faith and discipleship.
I just read a scripture the other day that made an impression on me. It is in D&C 18:20-21. "Contend against no church, save it be the church of the devil. Take upon you the name of Christ, and speak the truth in soberness."
I trust that you will do the right thing. I also know that you have a firmness of testimony and that you would not try to put something misleading in order to get a position. If it is right, though, you could be the means of helping to change people's minds about the kind of people that we are. If it is not right, then the Lord will have protected you and your family.

Esther you are such a crack up! i played for the catholic church for a couple of years off and on in high school and college. I figured that I would let them pay me if I wasn't playing on Sunday. i told them that i didn't take money for playing in my church and I would happily play for theirs. They were always super nice to me and even understood that I didn't take their sacrament and stuff. i made alot of friends (old ladies). It was fun and i had to play weird songs that I didn't know -- it was a good experience and I learned to really appreciate the spirit that I feel at our meetings! Hope all is well
