Here is a picture from Joshua's choir concert. Select choirs from seven high schools around the state got to sing with the Omaha Symphony, and Opera Omaha. They did Verdi's Requiem (very difficult and powerful piece of music), and choral numbers from some popular operas. The performance was outstanding. All of the choirs in the state wear robes for their performances. What they do not show (thankfully) is that Joshua's choir director has all of the boys unzip their flies under their robes during the performance. It is funny afterwards to see which ones forgot to zip them back up.

Looks like an impressive setting for a concert. Looks like the chior balcony wraps around for what I'm sure is quite the sound. I'm afraid to ask why the choir director has all the boys unzip their flies for the performance but it does beg the question...

Oh, Joshua, you look so handsome! I can't believe how grown up you are. What a great experience that must have been, to blend your voice with all the best in Omaha. I would love to hear it.
The fly thing is just a funny bit to put the boys at ease a little. Nobody can see because the robes go all the way to mid-calf.
The concert was performed at Omaha's new Holland Performing Arts Center. It is an amazing hall for concerts like this. We do not have a recording of the actual concert, but I have an MP3 snippet of another group doing the same thing. The quality of the orchestration and vocals was every bit as good as what you hear on this recording. You can find the recording at

Not all of you are as big of classical music fans as I am, but I think you will be impressed with the power of this music.
I wish I could have heard him. I miss being in a choir. It is one thing to listen to a choir singing classical music but another thing entirely to be apart of it and blend your voice with everone else. Josh Im jelous and wish I could have heard you. Im sure you were great.
I miss singing in a committed, talented choir as well (ward choirs are just not the same). They have choirs here that I could audition for, but it takes so much time.
I have never seen the kind of quality in arts and education that I have seen here in Nebraska (probably why our taxes are as high as they are). The experiences that Joshua is getting in music in his high school program are more than I ever got at the Arizona state choir programs, or even in my college choirs.
That recording just makes me want to hear the live concert more. Joshua, when you come for Thanksgiving you're just going to have to give us a private concert.

I'm not as big a fan of classical, but I have to say that I shed a few tears at the beginning. It was so powerful & I was so proud of Joshua. To think of all the hardships we've had & he's turning out better than we dreamed. It's a big deal that I cried because according to Nathan "nobody's seen you cry in, like, 10 years" (even him & the kids). Yes, I have "issues". Has anyone heard Bethany's "issues" cheer? As Joshua said in FHE, does everyone know how weird we are? Anyway, what I like about his HS is that everyone is cool; the music & business kids get just as much as attention as the sports. They excel at everything except baseball - nobody knows why. Their VB team just won state.
