Well I know I'm kind of late but I was moving the week after Thanksgiving so here is the AZ's Thanksgiving...
We all had so much fun and I say again Steph knows how to throw a good party! There was tons of food and she had little chef hats and aprons for all the kids, and let the mom's go Christmas shopping in her closet, and Joel even took all the dads to the ASU Thanksgiving day game.
What is the official decision on Christmas this year? Are we going to wait for mom and dad to come home (that is my vote)?Are we doing couple gifts or family gifts and if family what exactly does that mean? We need everyones input so we can all make a decision already!

I love the pictures. My kids sit around the computer in tears, wishing they were there. Oh well, next year right? Everyone looks all grown up. The twink on the right looks like Rebeccas baby pictures. I don't care about Christmas. I won't be there so whatever you all decide.

We love the pictures!!! Thank you for blogging them. As for Christmas, do whatever is convenient for you. And don't try to come to Arizona for our homecoming. We will visit each of you...including the Arizona kids. We'll have some Mesa time, so we hope to spend time with the Mesa kids as well as the out-of-state kids, and of course, time with the Safford kids on a regular basis. I get chills just thinking about it :)
Looks like tons of fun - good job, Joel & Steph! You guys rock. And Mary, thanks for blogging pix that we would probably never see. You may be the last one in the family but you're mighty! ;-) I've forgotten how different the holidays are in AZ.
As for Christmas, I personally would like to exchange when we come in Jan. I like to see people open presents - that's my favorite part. We are definitely coming. And Esther, as much as we love you, we don't want to help you give birth - so feel free to focus on yourself and your family & Mary will blog pix again - right, Mary?
Tom & Susan - we've got a busy year coming up, so we need to plan the best time for you to come. Honestly, I don't know if we can get enough tickets for you & my parents to get into Joshua's graduation (May 10). He has a big class & I think we can only get a max of 4, but we'll see. Hannah's 12th b-day (& officially her 3rd!) might be a good time. But if you'd rather wait & just come to Nauvoo & 4th of July that would be a lot more fun. You've got a lot of kids to visit so don't feel like you need to come right away to us or come more than once this year. Our plan is to come 1/30-2/3 & we won't have time to go to Safford that trip. So think about it & let us know - no rush.
And my personal opinion on Christmas gifts is to give to the cousins whose name you have this year. That makes it a lot easier & fair than drawing names. You can still do it even for those of us with limited funds. It doesn't have to be a big deal, it's the thought that counts. My kids especially like it when people think about them personally.
My thought on Christmas is to wait for Ma and Pa as well. Like Shauna, the best part is watching everyone open and see what everyone got. For the gift giving... We give to the couple, and to all the kids individually? I like the idea of a "family gift" or just a "couple gift" and then maybe Grandma does the treasure box for the younger grand kids. I think it would be fun for the older ones to do a white elaphant game with eachother, like take them to dollar tree or even wal-mart and have them get something and all play a game... Shoot, lets all do that, that sounds like party to me.

I just reread my comment and I sound a little harsh. I didn't mean too. I second what Daniel said and in the way he said it. As for Rachel's idea, that sounds fun to have the grandkids get cheap gifts and play white elephant or something like that.
better late than never! right? Mary didn't ask me if I had read the blog lately-BECAUSE SHE MOVED AWAY FROM US! (sorry still going through Mary withdrawls) Any who, I am just planning on getting a gift for the family we give to. But let me know what I need to do. My vote as always, is what ever is the easiest. Keep it simple.
