Portugal 12-16-07

Carol and Carin, twins from our English class. I thought Rachel and Tony might like to see them. They are really cuter than this and very smart.

The puppets we made for the puppet play that Maribel wrote. We performed it at the district Christmas party last night. It was really quite fun even though we had never practiced and had to just wing it.

The huge, larger-than-life presepio in the middle of town. It was up last year too, in another location, but it seems more spectacular this year so we are sending it again.

Wax body parts in Fatima...to burn to ask for a blessing on that part or to offer thanks for a healing. I notice there are also wax children. I wonder if that is to ask for a blessing on a child. It actually wreaks of voodooism a little bit.

Even wax legs. That's the one I would have bought if I had been a believer in "wax burning."

Did you make the puppets? I gotta say mom that first picture of the wax body parts is a little graphic and like you said a little voodoo.
