Here's Hannah's new summer haircut.
Josh finished an 8 hour service project yesterday that he was in charge of. We had the YM spend the night Friday - craziness & fire. Our house is still standing. Josh is getting his paperwork together for his Eagle this week.
We're knee deep in food plans for Youth Conf & YW Camp. We're feeding 150 people for 2 weeks between them both (6-1-6/15). So feeding Daniel & fam & others is going to be a cinch. :0)
We're planting & transplanting our garden this week. Our frost date is May 15 so we're safe now. A miracle: our apricot blossoms survived the spring for the 1st time. Must've been Nathan's fertilizing & heat lamps through the night. Go Nathan! Score those husband points!
Bethany was out of school on Thursday; Hannah's last day is this Friday. Good riddance, elementary school!
Nathan & I celebrated our 20th anniversary by going to a 4-star hotel in...Nebraska City, of all places. It's one of my fave places on earth - Lied Lodge aka Arbor Day Lodge - where Arbor Day started. Yep, I'm weird. If you have time google it; it's pretty cool. We left Josh in charge; this is his official quote on being a "mom": "It sucks!" And he only had to do it for 2 days.

Great update and thank you for practicing on feeding all those kids in preparation for us. I have to say we've not been disappointed ever when visiting the NE Biggs...you all know how to feed the big groups.
Speaking of the 4th Extravaganza though, I say this every year and I'll say it again, you all should make plans to come. Our kids started planning our visit this year as we drove away last year. Despite all the excuses, priorities and miles that might keep you from considering the trip, none of them are worth missing the memories that you gain from going. I wish I could convey how fun it is to plan your own fireworks show, shop with the NE Biggs family for your own incendiary devices and shoot them off. Without exception I think just being around Josh, Bethany and Hannah is worth the price of admission. We're so happy to have memories with them. Anyway, I could keep going and while I'm not confident my few words will convince anyone, I hope they at least get you to consider a trip. You will be glad you did I promise...

Thanks for the nice comments, Daniel. Like you said, it is really more than the fireworks. The fun part is staying connected to the family. I have been reading a book and one of the things they talk about is that the support of multi-generational family members is as critical in forming the values of kids as even the parents are. I have seen that in my own childhood (being influenced by Jan/Kent, Karl/Dianna, Grandma/Grandpa, Bob/Carolyn, Grandmother, John, Diane, etc.). I am glad that we are doing some of that in our generation too.
We are excited to be included in the Biggs' fabulous fourth! And I heartily concur with the fact that children benefit from exposure to their grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles. I guess it's obvious I feel that way because I try so hard to keep us together.
