Last night we had one of the most amazing storms the Valley of the Sun has ever seen. It was awe inspiring! We could not help take pictures! Jeremy got video of the storm just to give you an idea. There was so much lightning the sky was literally alive. The thunder was a constant roll and the sky was lit up with lightning non stop! It seemed apocalyptic!
In east Mesa we just had a great show but if you see the link you can see what the storm had done as it moved west through Phoenix (click on the post title and it will take you to Fox 10). The news said that this storm went up to 5o,000 feet, that expains why the lightning was so high in the sky. Most of it we couldn't see because it was just behind the clouds. We just saw the sky light up.
As the storm died down we went outside and took video and pictures of the lightning. The kids watched from their bedroom window until we finally went on the deck. If you listen to the video you will hear the CONSTANT rumbling of the thunder. It sounds like wind but it is the thunder. There was so much it was pretty easy to get actual still pictures. The cool thing about that is that as the lightning lit up the sky you could hear a lot of neighbors out in their yards doing the same thing and with every strike you would hear the oohs and ahhhs that you would expect at a fireworks show. Daynen even said the Beijing had nothing on this. Heavenly Father truly throws the best light displays!

Holy Cow!!! The sky was never dark! That is so cool, I wish we could have been there to experiance it. So thanks for the video, and those pictures are seriously amazing, they are like magazine worthy. Awesome Post!
everyone in the er was out watching it hoping that it would scare away all the out of staters that might come into the er.
it was very cool to see nonetheless.
Seriously? That was awesome. What really got me was the CONSTANT thunder. Were you guys just a little bit scared? I know Im a boob when it comes to weather but I was scared just watching it.
Reygan was cying and upset but the rest of us were outside waiting for the clouds to split for the 2nd coming. It realy was quite cool.
While watching the news I was thinking they were over reacting, but looking at it now, Phoenix got the brunt of it (as far as damage goes) They probably couldn't appreciate the majesty like we could. But by the end of the night Reygan calmed down and could appreciate what she was seeing. But she is definately more like you Esther when it comes to fear of weather. Jeremy and I just don't undestand her fear, so you can sympathize with her!
Did you lose power? At least that fireworks show is free - and legal. :-)
That is INCREDIBLE! I love lightning that thunder never stopped!
that is awesome. I just hope the storm won't hit us. From Shadrach!
that looks like a terrible storm. It kind of looks like the storm in colorado.
Shauna, No we were lucky the East Valley was fortuate enough to not loose our power. We just got the fun part! (The sweet show) We are in Safford right now so I just checked the news website and I guess that many still do not have power. Yuck when it is still 100 outside and not to mention the humidity that we get after storms. We are enjoying the weather in Safford right now!
D & C fam,
Did the storm move up to CO? In all my CO years I have seen many of tornados & blizzards, but nothing like 2 hours of constant lightning flickering every other second. If you do/did get it, enjoy it! It's beautiful!
We had a thunderstorm in Safford the same night, but it was not nearly as dramatic! I am so glad you got pictures, Erika.
