We got a call from the school today saying Hayden fell off the monkey bars and hurt his arm. Jeremy and I thought, "oh no, not another one!" After we got him we were able to take him to his 1st orthopedist in 2 hours and confirmed our worries. . . . he broke his elbow again!
Hayden first broke his left elbow when he was almost 3. This is the scar from the surgery when they put the pins in.
These pictures are from the 2nd time he broke his arm 11 months later (on Ellie's 1st birthday). This is the same arm he broke.
We did feel lucky that we could just go strait to the specialist, have x-rays taken, and have Hayden's arm casted within 3 hours of the break. We know that tends to be an all day, if not days, ordeal.

This time he broke the inside part of his elbow and his previous break from 2 years ago was unaffected. And no surgery this time! YEA!
While we were waiting in the waiting room Hayden started to get very upset showing us the first tear we have seen in this ordeal. He then cried, "I don't want my arm to be broken!" While comforting him we asked his biggest worry. He then said, "Because I won't be able to go Trick or Treating." We assured him that that
was not true and that he could still go Trick or Treating. So then he picked a black cast for Halloween.The he was able to pick what ever treat he wanted so we headed to the golden spoon for some frozen yogurt. No he HAS to lay on the couch for the next couple of days and watch cartoons. Can you imagine his disappointment :0).
We are still quite amazed at this kid's luck with his elbows! 3 breaks within 3 1/2 years is crazy. We joked with Dr Hrasky to not call CPS. He was quite amused with that when he whispered to his nurse, "You called the police right?"
But Hayden has been so brave and tough!

Oh my goodness, Hayden! You are amazing! I was even telling my visiting teaching ladies all about you and your glass elbows. I am so sorry you got hurt, but I am glad it won't keep you from going trick-or-treating. I love you so much, so please take better care of my grandson, Hayden.

SERIOUSLY!? Hayden, your going to have some good stories to tell your kids! Glad you are okay.
i don't know if we ever told about Parker's broken arm but since its now public record in Child Protective Services files I guess I could...After football practice one day Parker came home to say his arm hurt. I told him to suck it up and get back in the game. He went to practice, he worked a hard Saturday carrying sod and all kinds of other things without whimpering at all. When his coach asked why he didn't have his arm checked by the doctor he said "my dad says it costs too much money." I didn't really but still it made it sound horrible. Connie took him to the doctor a week after his injury and the doctor took one look at the x-ray and said "that arm is broken." I felt so bad but Parker never holds a grudge so I think I'll be safe...Bottom line Hayden at least you have a father who will take you to the doctor and even get you some frozen yogurt.
Hayden, Hayden you are a stud. An elbow accident pron stud, but you carry it off so well! If you were too show up at my door for Halloween, I would give you double the CANDY!!!
