Hi Everyone-
Well we're back to school. The last few weeks have been really crazy and busy and so I didn't have much time to think about going back to school until about the night before. I suddenly got very weepy and realized that this is a pretty big year for our family. We have three major changes in our school age children.
Stetson started High School -- He's a Highland Hawk! He has a great schedule and a great group of friends. We walked into the orientation and a bunch of girls start waving and yelling "Stetson". I asked if he knew them and he just shrugged and said yes. Boys! I never knew he had such a following. He's enjoying seminary and from what I hear, the bus is great fun -- super crowded -- but the place to be if you are anybody!
It's off to junior high for Levi. He was nervous that he wouldn't be able to remember where his classes were, but he spent a couple of days with the school map and his schedule and he had a great first day! He is taking strings this year -- as much as he didn't want to-- but he does well. In tipical Levi style, he has more friends that he knows what to do with. Our phone rings constatly for Levi and he is always invited to every party. I hope he can balance social and academics!
Docker started 1st grade. All day! He and his best friend Dylan are sitting right next to each other (I bet it won't last long). When he came home from school and I asked how his first day went he exasperatedly told me "terrible"! Shocked, I asked why, and he said that the teacher kept blowing a whistle in class. Docker is very sensitive to sound -- he doesn't like to hear babies crying(or anyone for that matter), screaming, loud laughing, or yelling -- so he didn't take well to the whistle. I guess she blows it when the kids get too loud. So I told Docker that I could have him changed to a different teacher or he would just have to buck up. He said he will buck up. He is enjoying eating lunch at school (both bringing his lunch and eating in the cafeteria). Docker is always in a hurry to try the next thing, so we never know when we might get "the note". He loves school and being with his friends, but he said he's ready for it to cool off because afternoon recess is just "sweaty".
Can you see why I was so weepy? And stressed. I was so worried the first day of school I could hardly breathe.
Crew is a little sad that his brothers are all gone, but he also gets the run of the house and all my attention so he is taking full advantage of that. He starts pre school in two weeks and I'm sure he'll enjoy that. Crew is my OCD child. Right now his obsession is what he is getting for his birthday (on March 19). He is also my most social child -- even more that Levi. He is happy to play with anyone and anytime at anyplace and doesn't like to say goodbye until he's planned another playdate!
Joel is busy as usual doing business as usual. He is our new gospel doctrine teacher and does a really good job -- and likes to keep our bishopric humble while teaching (you know how he can tease). He will be traveling a lot this year, so we're gearing up!
I'm just trying to keep up with everyone else. Hey if anyone has a fun enrichment activity that you have done -- let me know (If you read this far into my "blog"). I'll try to write at least once a month to keep you updated.
