It's that time of year when the deer lose their antlers and we've been having fun hiking around the mountain behind the house looking for them. It's a real treasure hunt. I don't know if you can tell with the big one Albert has but it has 7 points with two on a 'kicker' that pokes out the back. It was quite the find. It was under a fallen tree on the ledge of a 20 foot drop and while it scared me to see him go after it there was no way he was going to leave it behind. Parker and I picked up the small ones and Albert picked up the big ones.
On another note, thank you all for your support of our efforts to adopt a young autistic boy. I know the word didn't spread very well and we still haven't spoken to everyone because we've tried to wait until we're more certain things are going to happen as we hope. We've made it through all of the required certifications and are now just waiting for a few more meetings until he's placed in our home. We can't post pictures on the web until he's ours because of laws protecting kids in his situation from being exploited. More to come. For those who don't know, the child's name is Jonathan and he is 5 years old. He recently learned to walk and he doesn't talk. He struggles to communicate at all but is affectionate. In other words he will sit on your lap and give a good bear hug which is rare with autistic kids. Our kids met him for the first time last week and Connie and I saw him again on Wednesday this week. We'll let you know as things progress.

We think that it is wonderful what you are doing. We thank God that there are people like you out there willing to do things like this. If there is anything we can do to support you, we will gladly do it. We are looking forward to seeing Jonathan at our home in July.

What a blessing that he is willing to be affectionate. To me, that is the greatest blessing of all, that he will accept love from you, his new family. And he will be a blessing to our whole family, too. We are looking forward to meeting grandchild #41. And in a family our size, isn't it fortuitous that the name, Jonathan, has been saved for him? I can't think of anyone in either of our extended families with that name. A couple of Johns, but no Jonathans. Thank you for making us part of this great experience.
